"WALES BY RAIL AND BUS"

Wirral Globe "Wrap" Advertising

19th May 2004

Please circulate:

The Wrexham - Birkenhead Rail Users' Association is organising an advertising wrap on the theme of "Wales by Rail and Bus" to go around the Wirral Globe Newspaper on May 19th to coincide with the start of the summer rail timetables.

Advertising copy is being sought from three types of sources: firstly the bus and rail operators, secondly the local authorities and tourist boards, and thirdly tourist attractions in North and Mid Wales.

We will be centring the main article on the opportunities afforded by the combination of a £4 Wirral to Wrexham day return train ticket with Arriva Bus's £5 Wales and North West day rover ticket. We will also promote the £20 North and Mid Wales Day Ranger valid on rail and bus from Chester and Shotton. This costs just £13.20 for railcard holders and extends as far south as Aberystwyth.

There will be specific mention of services such as Wrexham to Llangollen, Wrexham to Barmouth via Bala and the Clwydian Ranger buses from Chester and Shotton stations.

Rail connections to the North Wales Coast via both Chester and Shotton will feature and journeys to more unexpected destinations will be covered also if they are prominently advertised.

The presence of timetables in the wrap will encourage interested readers to keep it for reference once they have separated it from the main part of the newspaper. Advertisements in the wrap will therefore be more durable than is normally the case.

Interested advertisers should contact Melissa Bragg or Michelle Ingram at the Wirral Globe on 0151 906 0450. They can contact WBRUA Chairman Malcolm Wright on 0151 638 3631 or at wbrua@aol.com.
